United’s Amando Moreno (10) is congratulated by teammate Harry Swartz after his goal in the second half last Saturday. United returns to action Friday at Colorado Springs. (Jim Thompson/Albuquerque Journal) New Mexico United excelled at pleasing an enthusiastic home crowd last week. Friday’s task is entirely different. United (1-1-1) will effectively play the villain in its road match at Colorado Springs. It is the home opener for the host Switchbacks (1-1-0), who will play their first regular-season match at the new Weidner Field, the club’s 8,000-seat downtown venue. The occasion seems certain to provide the home side with plenty of motivation.
