‘Music is healing’ for woman who restores broken down violins and gives them to those in need Updated Mar 06, 2021; Facebook Share “The older they are, the better they sound,” Hudson says. The Muskegon-area woman collects broken down violins, repairs them and donates the instruments to the community, including to a 17-year-old boy, a mother of three children and a girl from Ravenna. The project started about a decade ago when Hudson was a bus driver for Fruitport Community Schools. A student who’s family was homeless confided in Hudson that she would like to play the violin. Hudson bought a $10 violin from eBay, fixed it up and worked with the district to gift it to the girl.
