28 th May 2021 2:00 pm I caught the tail end of a TV programme a few months ago. I have no idea what it was called or which channel it was on but it made such an impression on me that it has stayed in my mind. There was a well-spoken young black man in a suit, interspersed with footage of children in a school playground. The young man had gone to school in Stratford, East London and had wanted to be a lawyer. School should have been the place to help him realise that ambition, but instead, he had been told by one teacher “Boys like you don’t become lawyers.”
