None of the countries are on track to decarbonize their power sectors, says Climate Action Tracker. India and China need to develop long-term phase-out strategies. The UK, EU, Germany, Chile, and South Africa are on track to phase out coal. Brazil could also get on track if it repeals Bolsonaro-era legislation. Developed countries need to phase out coal by 2030 and unabated gas by 2035. The developing country power sector transition is not far behind. All countries should achieve above 80% of electricity from renewables by 2035 and 90-100% renewable electricity supply by 2050. | Latest News India
