air. i think, as the day progresses, we'll find ourselves having cooler temperatures and the humidity will drop down a bit. take a look at the current temperatures at the area airports right now. in washington, it is 53 degrees at reagan national. dulles international is at 53 degrees and bwi marshall is at 52 at this hour. so a cooler start to the day. satellite-radar composite for our region, the showers that we saw have pushed off to the south and east and again, that rainfall right now is across portions of the outer banks and northeastern portions of north carolina. there is a little trail of shower activity from southwestern virginia back through west virginia and ohio and then pretty good system once again hitting the midwest with some areas of heavy rain and winds. here is a look at the forecast for today for us. big difference from yesterday. cloudy and cool, scattered shower or light drizzle possible this morning. and then later on in the day, it will be dry. a lot of clouds around. high only about 63 degrees today. i'll have more details on the forecast and we'll take a look ahead at the weekend as well coming up in a little bit. >> hopefully better than that. >> canal road as you approach the whitehurst freeway. all of the activity here along the right side of the road. so if you are coming inbound from foxhall road, you squeeze by to the right and the same for you guys coming outbound leaving georgetown this morning from wisconsin avenue. again, you will want to stay to the left. they are making repairs to the fire hide ranted. delays where you normally wouldn't find them at this hour along canal road. key bridge is open for business but allow some extra time in this area. southbound 270, typical delay. we are backed up now out of hyattstown. all lane are open. no incidents to report on the top stretch of the beltway between college park and bethesda. that's a check of your fox 5 on-time traffic. >> thank you. a 14-year-old is under arrest accused of shooting at a school bus. this all unfolded just after 3:00 yesterday afternoon in fairfax county at the intersection of columbia pike and lincolnia road. the bullet hit just two feet away from where students were sitting and dangerously close to the fuel tank. >> within an hour, police tracked down the teenager at his home where they all found a rifle and a scope. >> i have been was safe. there were no injuries. again, with the quick thinking of the bus driver pulling over in a safe location, actually everybody remained calm and we got officers here to help facilitate the kids on another bus. >> they are looking into how the teenager got the gun and if his parents will be held accountable. prince george's county police looking into a crash that left a 2-year-old dead and her mother badly hurt. police say the woman veered off the rooted and slammed into a tree. the two-year-old was flown thrown from her car seat. police say speed and wet roads was a factor in the crash. it was an incredibly close call for a driver on 395 yesterday i'm rusted-out street light pole fell right onto his minivan as he was driving down 395 north near the south capital street exit. pole that fell was inspected back in 2008 and deemed to be in fair condition. alonte sutton's family held a vigil in his honor. they remember the ballou high school senior as a lymphing and bright child. according to d.c. police, amari cotton was upset because sutton refused to give him and his girlfriend a right. sutton apparently returned to the tire and police say cotton chased him into the woods and at some point shot him. the three men accused of covering up the murder of tease lawyer robert won. he was found stabbed to death in a home in 2006. prosecutors say the three men would lived in the house covered up the crime. they are not charged with killing him. a judge will hear the case. the board of directors of metro will head back to the drawing board to talk about yet another proposed fare increase. peak fares would increase to $1.90. a surcharge of anywhere from 0 to 50 cents would be added to fares during the peak periods and for trips going to what metro calls the congested zone. bus sphears would rise from $1.5 to $1.50 for smart trip user and $1. # 0 for riders that use cash. metro is still $54 million below budget and has just three months left to make up the difference. getting a new look at the source of that massive oil spill in the gulf of mexico. the underwater video shows a broken pipe continuously spewing oil into the water. now, some of it looks like oil color and then you will notice some of it has a lighter color. that is because it is mixing with natural gas. lawmaker are trying to pinpoint the cause of the explosion that set this all off. internal documents that bp turned over to congress shows there was a bad wiring and a leak in the quote, unquote, blowout preventer. president obama in new york today stopping in buffalo as mumbling holland over and over when rescuers found him. more than half of the 100 people who died in the crash were from holland. doctors say the dutch boy had surgery for several fractures in both legs. afghan president hamid karzai continues his visit to washington. he will meet with secretary of state hillary clinton later today. president obama and karzai met at the white house yesterday. relations between the two have been tense. mr.obama has been publicly critical of karzai who the white house has accuse the of failing to take action against government corruption in his country. karzai wants assurance that the united states won't abandon his country whether american forces withdraw next year. at the meeting yesterday, the two leaders downplayed their differences. >> there side single file to the left leaving georgetown is how you get through. coming inbound from canal road, traffic is able to get by at least two lanes to the right as you travel inbound from foxhall road headed over towards the whitehurst freeway and the key bridge. something we are not quite used to in this area is roadwork in place. it is this morning causing a little bit of a slowdown. lanes are open southbound on 95 and 295 coming in out of laurel. that's a check of your fox 5 on-time traffic. something new on the streets of d.c. to try to make it easier to pedestrians and make more drivers pay attention. this is happening at the busiest pedestrian intersection in the city. seventh and h streets in northwest. traffic will have to stop in all directions so that pedestrians can cross and now they can cross diagonally from one corner to the other. drivers will no longer be able to turn at this intersection. d-d.o.t. says if it goes well, it could turn up at other intersections in the see. if you see or hear d.c. fighter jets tonight and tomorrow morning, norad is running training exercises. they will be up from 11:30 until 1:30 and again from 3:30 until 5: 5 points. how to we look this morning? >> you know, it will be one of those days where you just don't know where we're moving. we do get something before the bell today and that is this weekly initial jobless claims. we had a very good monthly report last friday so investors will be looking at that. that is 8:30 eastern time to see where we are going. we are pancake flat in terms of our futures. ments a mixed bag in europe so where we go could be in any direction. especially given the fact that we were up over 400 points on monday, gave a little bit back on tuesday but we had another big day yesterday up 149 points. so this week has been so good, you may have the investors wanting to take a little off the table. >> we'll see what happens later today. in the meantime, we've got some big retailers that will be reporting today. we've got nordstrom, kohl's, urban outfitters, whole foods doing really well. >> whole as for has done a good job of turning things around. they had their quart arely report after hours. they did something you almost have to do with expectations going up. they reportated great quarter and they increased their guideness for the rest 2010. you hear me talking about guidance all the time. their guidance went up and therefore people are buying the stock. it was up over 6% yesterday after hours. and cisco systems said their guidance would be what was expected. their stock sold off 2% after hours last night. >> so we'll be watching what happens today and all getting some initial joble claims reports too. so we'll see what happens there. thank you, a school bus that is packed with children. >> there is a teenager now under arrest as police try to figure out how he got his hands on a rifle and a scope. sarah similar monday is live in fairfax county where this scene all unfolded. >> good morning. >> reporter: pretty scary moment as can you imagine for the middle schoolers who were on the bus as well as the bus driver too. now, there is a 14-year-old that is under arrest for allegedly firing that shot at the school bus. perhaps while he was shooting birds in his own neighborhood. now, this happened at about 3:00 yesterday afternoon when the bus left gas go middle school t had about 30 students on board. the bus driver hearded a loud noise and the student on board started yelling gunshots. the driver was able to drive to a safe place just down the road at about columbia pike and lincolnia radio where we are at this morning. he discovered a bullet hole and when police were called to the scene, they were able to measure that bullet hole, take a look at the bus and discovered it came dangerously close, about two feet away from some seats where some children were sitting and very osceola close to the fuel tank as well. officers became very concerned, wondering what they were dealing with, possibly concerned that they could have another sniper on their hands. >> we take incidents like this very seriously. we had a lot of officers on scene. we had a kind ion -- we had a canine officer and the hard work of the officers being determined to narrow down where this shot could have come from. >> police are able to pinpoint the intersection where the shots had been fired. fairfax police discovered some dead birds on the lawn there at one of t
