Your Letters: June 1, 2021 Reader Submissions Courage and strength Times are rough. Seems more people hate others than build on the foundation of “love thy neighbor.” The media is more instrumental in promoting discord than smoothing ruffled feathers. The media thrives on negativity more than highlighting the good in people. An act of good might end a news broadcast, but it’s seldom a major topic. Today is no different. Digging up the dregs of times gone by only fosters a deeper trench filled with “woes, hate, discontent and a pay-me attitude.” Is the current attitude pushing us back in time? Is it safer now than in 1840, 1912 or the 1960s? Remember, 2021 will someday be added to the list of historical dates as a time when people couldn’t live in peace with their neighbor.
