GUEST COMMENTARY: Time to diversify currency with Harriet Tubman

Christian Nunes
Harriet Tubman was a conductor on the Underground Railroad, with a record of never losing a single passenger on the road to freedom from slavery. She aided the Civil War effort as a Union spy, scout, cook and battlefield nurse, and in 1863 she led an armed raid that freed 700 slaves in South Carolina — making her the first woman ever to lead a U.S. military expedition.
In contrast, Andrew Jackson owned 95 enslaved people before he became president, and brought 14 of them to the White House. He signed into law the Indian Removal Act, forcing tribes off their own lands and onto the “Trail of Tears” — an action that is now frequently referenced as a forced death march. ....

District Judge Makes a Monumental Decision in the Miss USA Transgender Lawsuit – RedState

Is your dream to make the Miss USA beauty pageant?
If there’s a Y in your chromosomal makeup, a court is not on your side beautiful though you may be.
On Thursday, a federal judge threw out a suit by a biological man identifying as a woman who claimed Miss United States of America is discriminatory.
Contestant Anita Noelle Green’s application was rejected, all entry fees refunded.
The reason, per the pageant’s motion to dismiss: It only lets “natural born biological females” into the contest.
Anita wasn’t havin’ it, hence the December ’19 filing.

As of February 25, a total of 221.7 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine had been administered around the world. Well over a third of these doses were in just two countries the United States and the United Kingdom.
A study in mid-November analysed commitments to buy 7.48 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines. Just over half will go to the 14 per cent of the world s population who live in high-income countries. ....

(WXYZ) — The way we get our news, information, and entertainment is evolving every day. But one media group has been very deliberate about that change.
It’s purposefully giving black voices a platform to tell their stories from their perspective.
Though it may be delivered by black people, Andrea Isom tells us it is still meant for everyone.
“There wasn’t a space where African-Americans were being delivered news about our community, about our issues. The only time you saw us on the news was when something bad was happening. We weren’t being delivered information that could really impact our lives and make communities stronger,” says Tanita Myers, News Director for BIN. ....
