The Ohio Supreme Court today considered four requests for permission to practice law in Ohio.
In unanimous per curiam opinions, the Supreme Court:
Allowed  a Strongsville man to seek admission pending his graduation from law school and passage of the bar exam.
Permanently barred a Mayfield Heights man from practicing law in Ohio because he lied about his criminal past and other dishonest conduct on multiple law-school applications and applications to take the bar exam in Ohio and Florida.
Rejected admission of a Wayne, Pennsylvania, man because of misrepresentations about his past, including termination from a law firm after admittedly sending “pretty graphic” text messages to a secretary at the firm. ....

Study examines how SARS-CoV-2 affects body’s vital organs
University of Alberta researchers are recruiting COVID-19 patients for a study to learn how the SARS-CoV-2 virus affects some of the body’s most vital organs.
The team, led by Ian Paterson, a cardiologist and professor of medicine in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, is using new MRI techniques it developed to detect injury to the lungs, heart and brain. The researchers hope to get a clearer picture of how the virus causes inflammation in the organs, how long it takes for symptoms to run their course and how it affects people’s functional abilities. ....

Economist to speak at North Clackamas Chamber event
John Mitchell: With continuing uncertainty, we will come back in a different place
North Clackamas Chamber of Commerce will host economist John Mitchell for a Zoom forum at noon Tuesday, March 30.
Mitchell s presentation titled Infection, Recession, Restoration will cover the outlook, risks and some longer-term implications of how the 2020 pandemic and our response to it resulted in an unanticipated recession with disparate impacts on different sectors of the economy and society. He noted that policy makers continue to respond to the pandemic forcefully with both monetary and fiscal measures.
While all 50 states went through a period of employment declines, Oregon s job growth went from the top tier to the middle of the pack, according to Mitchell s analysis. ....

A leap forward in research on CAR T cell therapy – Cellular engineering makes it possible to target therapy also against solid
A study recently published in the journal Science looked into how CAR T immunotherapy could be used to treat solid tumours in addition to leukaemias. The programming of CAR T cells opens avenues for applying cell therapies to, for example, breast cancer or ovarian cancer in the future.
In cancer immunotherapy, cells in the patient’s own immune system are activated to attack cancer cells. CAR T cell therapy has been one of the most significant recent advances in immunotherapies targeted at cancer. ....
