G7 countries reaffirm their common will for nuclear disarmament for the first time
77 years ago, a U.S. atomic bomb destroyed the Japanese city of Hiroshima. At the G7 summit taking place there, the member states reaffirmed with a view to Russia's war that the goal is a "world without nuclear weapons" They met in Hiroshima at a "historic moment" that, along with Nagasaki, "commemorates the unprecedented destruction and immeasurable human suffering" The Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons must be upheld as a basis for the pursuit of nuclear disarmament.
