Aapi hate. you really picked up the banner, taking on the mantle of making sure that awareness is out there. but i personally, margaret, find that if it s up in the news cycle i would talk about it. i would use this as a classic example. the atlanta spa shootings, horrific. if i were to ask somebody off the street do you know what happened the shooter? i d say probably eight of the ten people i would ask would have no idea what s going on with his case, no idea what ended up happening. i think it s a matter of outrage fatigue and how can we fit this into a narrative that sort of serves a larger purpose. like with the monterey park shootings which were just horrible, but they were committed by another asian person. which kind of like pulled out this thing of like, well if it s not a hate crime then is it newsworthy? it takes a lot of mental gymnastics to sort of understand why are we not as outraged when this happens within our own community? but it s still a huge problem. ....
