A Cape Coral couple who traveled to D.C. to protest the Congressional certification of President-elect Joe Biden’s electoral college win found themselves in a mob instead.
Patty Cummings and Aaron Bathory were part of a group of Southwest Florida residents who traveled to the nation’s capital in support of President’s Trump attempt at re-election. The two buses returned on Thursday. The trip was financed by Alfie Oakes, owners of the Oakes Farms Seed to Table Market.

President Trump supporters from Southwest Florida were tear-gassed as they stood on the U.S. Capitol steps during Wednesday's siege but are safe and returning home overnight, members of the group said.
About 100 protesters boarded two buses Tuesday morning for the 20-hour trip to a Washington, D.C., rally to show support for Trump on the day Congress was set to start counting certified Electoral College votes that will uphold President-elect Joe Biden's victory.
After Trump's remarks at the rally, the crowd marched to the Capitol and overtook it. The House and Senate were locked down, disrupting the Electoral College count. Rioters looted legislative offices, and one woman was fatally shot.
