Wisdom and experience. I would like now to call for his observations. Thank you, senator. First off, im president of the james river whole company. I very much appreciate invitation today from senator mcconnell to come speak with you. I left yesterday after a 48 hour workday, over two days. We furloughed or laid off for 200 employees. Our company as a whole over the last six months has had to do that for many employees. These are communities of just 1000 or 2000 people or 3000 people. When you have that type of Economic Impact due to regulations, and many of which are regulations that come from washington, that have very little understanding of what the outcome is for the local folks, for folks who get up and go to work everyday, the impact will mean for their families, that is wrong. Obviously were having hearings today in d. C. This is not my first visit here. I have been here on numerous occasions. I very much wish and invite you to coal country. You have heard people speak that the
Thank you all for coming. We dont want to break the microphone. Its a nice, cold, clear day in washington and i think its the same in geneva, and i had trouble tearing myself away from twitter this once i hope that there is news from their you will, someone who is on twitter here in the audience will let us know. Clearly there is a connection, however, between what is going on in geneva and what is happening here. If there is a nuclear agreement, if theres an improvement in relations between the United States and iran, between iran and the western community in general, that is going to have an impact on irans role in the region. And we are focusing today on iran and its eastern neighbors, specifically afghanistan, pakistan and india. While iran is often considered a middle eastern country, in fact, its historically its cultural ties are as strong if not stronger with its eastern neighbors, with afghanistan and south asia. And, of course, iran will be a pivotal player as it has been all
The peace pipeline. Its nothing that hes forced to take but baluchistan as you know the insurgency historically you dont have rules in that area and the most surprised area and also the report shows the Pakistan Government that broke down on the insurgency and its very similar. But most control of and of course iran over the region so so they are not doing enough to secure the border. Its going on for quite some time but in the media you would see that they are kind of blaming the Pakistan Government for being upset with the borders and not anything in pakistan of course they believed that sharif is close but there is a difference when one of the officials put it out the other day that its close to saudi arabia but is not the agent of saudi arabia and pakistan. It may be different but the other day the transfer of Nuclear Technologies that deal might change, but back to insurgency by the presidency unfortunately irans response to these kind of insurgencies have been very harsh and keep
Number two, it doesnt matter, this oil is going overseas period. Every ounce of oil that recovered from the ground even in the United States is sold on the market of the world. We produce more oil than anything else. Our number one export is gasoline. Host okay, mr. Pourbaix. Guest carl was braking up there a little bit. Once again, he was referring to the environmental issue of the oilsands and talking about this argument that the oil is for export. Let me say right off the bat. Nothing could be further from the truth. Once again, im all about the facts. Lets talk about the facts. Right now the u. S. Consumes about 15 Million Barrels of oil a day. They are one of the largest consumers of oil on the plan pet planet. They import everyday about 7 or 8 Million Barrels of oil. This pipeline is a pipeline from producing areas in canada and u. S. To refineries in the gulf coast. That is not a pipeline to export terminals. Its a pipeline to refineries. To suggest that these these refineries i
Is it different than any other Oil Crude Oil thats coming from the ground or how does it differ . What are the concerns there . There have been a number of studies taking a look at that. Those independent credible reviews have concluded that there isnt any difference. The composition of it is the same of the oil we import from venezuela. Its actually liker than some of the oil that comes out of california. The speculation and thats pretty much what it is about the composition of oilsands is just that, speculation. You also have to keep in mind we get more old from canada than any other country in the world. Its been that way for a long time. Most of that oil is coming out of the oilsands. This is not something new. This is not some new mix of oil thats coming in through keystone. There are a lot of other pipelines that are bringing oil in from canada. Host that was transcanada executive that we talked to in september when we visited the area about their keystone xl pipeline. Well be ta
