Delhi Police files second charge sheet in murder case involving Olympian Sushil Kumar

Sagar Dhankar murder case: Olympic wrestler Sushil Kumar denied bail by Delhi court

Kumar had sought relief from the court asserting that police built a false case against him and presented a "guilty image" of him. Additional Sessions Judge Shivaji Anand refused to grant relief to Kumar after hearing the arguments of both the prosecution and defense at length.

New Delhi [India], June 27 (ANI): Delhi Police Crime Branch on Sunday arrested one more accused in Chhatrasal Stadium murder case.
The arrested accused will be produced before Rohini Court today.
So far, more than 10 accused, including Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar, have been arrested in the case.
On June 16, Delhi Police arrested judo coach Subhash in connection with the murder of 23-year-old Sagar Dhankar at Chhatrasal Stadium.
Wrestler Sushil Kumar, the prime suspect in the murder case and his associate Ajay Bakkarwala were arrested by a team of Special Cell, Delhi Police on May 23 in the Mundka area of the national capital and are now under judicial custody.

After wrestler Sushil Kumar was arrested on murder charges, the old controversy around the brand ambassador impacting the fortunes of the endorsed brand resurfaced. There was much din and noise in earlier cases involving Saurav Ganguly and Akshay Kumar when their infirmities made the brands they were endorsing a laughing stock on social media. Both the brands, Fortune Oil and Dabur Chyawanprash, and their celebrity ambassadors were badly lampooned in earlier months.

So with Sushil Kumar now in jail, the team at the Indian Institute of Human Brands (IIHB) set out to ask consumers if the arrest of the fallen Olympian would impact their views on Patanjali Desi Ghee. A total of 332 respondents (M= 231, F=101), all in the 18-35 years age segment were telephonically contacted in the week of 7 June 2021. 87% of the respondents said that Patanjali Ghee had done no wrong. The celebrity’s personal morality was not the responsibility of the brand, and Kumar’s arrest in the murder case would not impact their choice or purchase of the ghee brand.

New Delhi [India], June 9 (ANI): Delhi's Rohini Court on Wednesday dismissed wrestler Sushil Kumar's petition seeking a high protein diet and special supplements in prison.
Kumar is currently in judicial custody as the prime accused in the Sagar Dhankar murder case.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Satvir Singh Lamba in the order said the alleged special foods and supplements appear to be only the desires and wishes of the accused/applicant and are not in "any manner the essential need or necessity" for him.

New Delhi [India], May 29 (ANI): Delhi's Rohini Court on Saturday granted the police further 4-day remand of wrestler Sushil Kumar and one other accused in connection with the alleged murder of wrestler Sagar Dhankar.
The Court partially allowed the Delhi Police remand application to further question Sushil Kumar in connection with the case.
While granting further remand, Duty Metropolitan Magistrate Mayank Goel of Rohini Court said medical of the arrested accused to be done as per rules.
Delhi Police, which was seeking further 7-day remand of Sushil Kumar, that Sushil Kumar is the main culprit of the heinous offence and is not cooperating during the interrogation.
