Hunt, who has pleaded not guilty, is charged with first-degree murder, three counts of attempted first-degree murder and burglary of an occupied dwelling while armed in connection with the April 4, 2019, shootings on Allen Avenue. The state is seeking the death penalty, citing — among other things — Hunt's previous convictions, that the shooting occurred to avoid arrest or to escape, and that it was "especially heinous, atrocious, or cruel." Alexandra “Lexie” Elise Peck, 19, died at the scene. Three others had life-threatening injuries but have recovered. Panama City case slow going The case, which spread fear throughout the Cove as neighbors tried to understand how four people could be gunned down and why, is set for motions to be heard by a judge on April 6, two years and two days after the shooting. The process has moved slowly because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the state's announced intent to seek the death penalty and the complexity of the the case.
