david murphy is outside. reporter: warm and muggy out here we re getting showers pushing closer to philadelphia. we re getting yellow on the radar, which indicates a brief but steady downpour. these are going to be non-lightning producing showers this morning. at cleveland and cincinnati you ll see a cold front on the way. obviously there are heavier showers out there here. as that gets here this afternoon and evening we re looking at strong gusty thunderstorms. we re at a slight risk of severe weather across the entire region. the time period will be after 5:00 p.m., up until so, 11:00 p.m. any thunderstorms that form, could produce strong winds and downpours. mid 70s down the shore we re looking at high dewpoints across the region today. so the oppressive humidity will be there. as we roll through the afternoon, high of 89 degrees at 3:00 p.m. and then the thunderstorms coming later today. we ll show those to you on future tracker 6 and have better weather in the ex ....

hottest night of the year. pepco confirmed pour outages and the heat and humidity could be factors. our garrett haake has been on the story all evening talked with affected residents and businesses. he s live in northeast. garrett? reporter: debra, thankfully the power is finally back on here in northeast for all but a few dozen people who might still be without it. for a while tonight, though, there were more than 4,000 people across the district without electricity. pepco says the first outage tonight in northwest was not caused by the heat, but regardless of what caused it all these people had to deal with the high temperatures. at andre jones home in upper northwest the power went off just like that. the next thing we know, bam. you know, so i ran downstairs. i thought maybe it was a breaker. reporter: jones was one of more than 2,000 pepco customers in northwest to lose power around 7 p.m. he and his kids couldn t stay indoors after that. very, very, v ....
