Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear signed a bill into law legalizing medical marijuana in the state despite federal cannabis prohibition.

Senate Bill 337 would create a new stable of public defense attorneys as state employees and create new methods and oversight for how the state contracts out the rest of its caseloads. It is the latest of several attempts in recent years to address problems in Oregon’s public defense system.

The Delaware Senate passed two bills that together would legalize marijuana for adult use and create a regulatory structure for cannabis commerce in the state – despite ongoing federal marijuana prohibition on the same.

The law prohibits Kentucky law enforcement agencies, local governments, and public agencies from adopting a rule, order, ordinance, or policy under which the entity enforces, assists in the enforcement of, or otherwise cooperates in a “federal ban” on firearms, ammunition, or firearm accessory. It also prohibits the expenditure of public funds for the same.

SB337 would also take a step toward opting Nevada out of a federal program that allows state and local police to get around more strict state asset forfeiture laws.
