Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen vowed that pro-Trump rioters who entered the U.S. Capitol would face the full consequences of their actions under the law, and those consequences could include being charged under President Trump s executive order authorizing up to 10 years in prison for injury of federal property.

“Once peaceful demonstrations turned violent, they became criminal,” he said in a statement.
On Wednesday, supporters of President Donald Trump breached the U.S. Capitol, prompting the building to go on lockdown. Videos and photos show people clashing with police. Four people died including a woman who was shot by U.S. Capitol Police and three other people who died in what was described as medical emergencies, the Associated Press reported.
“The Constitution protects the right to freedom of speech and assembly. What is does not protect is a violent assault on government institutions. Americans on the right and left must re-learn the difference,” Lelling said. “Anyone who traveled from Massachusetts with the intent to commit such crimes will be prosecuted in the District of Massachusetts. ....

The U.S. Capitol Building was stormed on Wednesday, less than five months after President Donald Trump authorized up to a decade in prison for “willful injury” of federal property.
Supporters of Trump breached the U.S. Capitol, prompting the building to go on lockdown. Videos and photos show protesters clashing with police, including the use of pepper spray on both sides.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said on Fox News Wednesday afternoon that he heard from Capitol police that shots were fired inside the building. ....
