LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Churches are getting ready for services this weekend leading up to Easter Sunday. For many, this will be the first time holding in-person Easter services since the pandemic began.
“Last year was so hard for everybody and this year to come back to the church is really a blessing,” said Rev. Carlos Martinez of Mary Queen of The Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
With Easter being such an important holiday for the church, Martinez says they want to welcome as many people as they can. With a limited capacity and social distancing guidelines in place, this means branching out beyond the pews. The church will hold several Easter services throughout the day in different locations, like in the church, the gym, and in the parking lot. FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — On Wednesday, Gov. Andy Beshear announced that 963 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Kentucky. After the removal of duplicates, the 963 new cases brings Kentucky s COVID-19 case total to 418,372.
“While our new cases have decreased dramatically since their peak in the commonwealth, these numbers are still too high,” said Gov. Beshear in a press release. “We are close to the finish line but we can’t let up yet. Keep masking up, keep social distancing and get vaccinated when it’s your turn. Let’s see this through to the end of the fight.” ....

OWINGSVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18) — A shot of hope is what COVID-19 vaccines are to many hoping for a return to normalcy.
On Wednesday morning, 300 more Kentuckians were able to get their own vaccine at the Bath County Senior Center.
Today is really about individuals receiving a shot of hope, said Victoria Elridge, the commissioner of the Department for Aging and Independent Living.
The clinic came to Owingsville thanks to a partnership between Walgreens and the Gateway Area Development District.
Elridge says in Kentucky s rural communities, promoting the vaccine relies less on social media and more on traditional formats. That includes simple word-of-mouth. ....

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Country music star and Lexington native Chris Stapleton will not perform at Kroger Field next month as planned.
The event, Chris Stapleton: Concert for Kentucky, An Outlaw State of Kind Benefit, has been delayed to Saturday, April 23, 2022. Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, and Yola will perform on the rescheduled date.
