Rheumatoid arthritis causes pain and discomfort that are impossible to ignore. With the right treatment plan, some people achieve remission, meaning they have few symptoms and low disease activity. But rheumatoid arthritis progression can happen even after years of managing your condition.
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disorder that impacts the lining of the joints, causing pain and swelling, according to the Mayo Clinic. Left untreated, the disease can progress and damage your joints or spread to other tissues in your body, including your heart, lungs, eyes, kidneys, and blood vessels.

VA to open new health care clinic in Adrian

VA to open new health care clinic in Adrian
The Daily Telegram
ADRIAN — Later this year, veterans in Lenawee County seeking Veterans Affairs health care services will have a much shorter distance to travel.
The VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System announced this week the location of a new Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) at 770 Riverside Ave. in Adrian. Once complete, the 2,500-square-foot clinic will serve veterans in Lenawee and surrounding counties and will provide primary care, mental health, social work, dietetics and blood draw services to more than 3,000 local veterans, a news release said.
Once renovations of the leased space are complete, the clinic is expected to open late this coming summer or in the fall, the release said. The site was chosen based on many factors including a demonstrated need to serve more veterans in the Lenawee County area.

Cardiac Care Feels Staffing Crunch as Big Money Converts COVID-19 Travelers

January 20, 2021
In Georgia, a teenage girl critically ill with COVID-19 complicated by fulminant myocarditis, heart failure, and multiorgan clots needed to get on extracorporeal membrane oxygen (ECMO) if she was to survive—but doctors at the tertiary center didn’t have the staff to run the machines. They’d lost the majority of their permanent nurses to higher paid “travelling” positions elsewhere, so needed to request transfer.
In neighboring Florida, a cardiac/neuro lab tech, feeling undervalued, overworked, and unmotivated, made the difficult decision to give up her full-time position to become a traveler, accepting short-term positions at COVID-19 hotspots around the US.
