My father was a restaurant worker all his life. What did your mom do . Ben my mother worked in the garment industry, so she will take the subway downtown from the bronx every morning to work. My father worked in a cafeterias. My sister and i roslyn i were left more or less alone most of our lives. I was pretty much left alone most of the time i was growing. Growing up. Ut that was fine, i loved it in the bronx, where we lived in the bronx park, a wonderful place, the bronx zoo, a Botanical Gardens that i used to go to all the time, i use to sneak into the bronx zoo overnight to see the animals after it had closed. I had no planes at all. We had a great time being poor. Better, beach was even right next to coney island. I could go to coney island, ride on the cycl ....

For a while, we lived in a Community Called Brighton Beach in brooklyn, which is a beautiful place right on the beach in Long Island Sound that many poor russians lived in those days. Duane Donley

Duane E. Donley, 98 of Perham, MN, died Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Hadley House Assisted Living Center in Perham. Duane Donley was born on May 23, 1924 in Campbell, MN. With the death of his father during the Depression in 1934 there were many hardships for his mother and ten siblings, but they always had a positive outlook on life and food on the table. Working his way through high school Duane graduated in 1942 from Perham MN High School and enlisted in the Army. The Army immediately saw the value he could contribute as an engineer after the war and he was given the opportunity to study in the Army Special Training Program at Western Maryland University. A year later, because of heavy military activity in the European Theater, Private First Class Donley, Company D 335th Infantry Regiment was deployed to the European front as a Radio man in the 84th Infantry Division for the duration of WWII. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and the Last Battle and was discharged on February 16, ....
