(Photo by Janelle Patterson) The former Marietta Middle School basketball coach accused of rape and unlawful sexual conduct with minors was granted a personal recognizance bond in Washington County Common Pleas Court on Thursday. Crystal Burke, 41, of 6625 State Route 60, Lowell, faces nine felony counts in the case of four alleged minor victims. “I think I’ve added correctly, the longest prison term you face if you’re convicted of everything and the court running the (sentences) consecutively is 56.5 years,” explained Washington County Common Pleas Judge Mark Kerenyi in arraignment Thursday. ....

One-third of a set of defendants in a methamphetamine and fentanyl trafficking case from last summer is headed to more than a decade of prison service. “He’s doing an additional two years in Pennsylvania after he gets out for violating terms of his last prison release,” said Lt. cblack@newsandsentinel.com Photo by Candice Black Brittni Cheyenne Messick, 27, was ordered to carry out the remainder of her 30 month sentence at Ohio Reformatory for Women for a drug conveyance charge after appearing before Judge Mark Kerenyi at Washington County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday. A Marietta woman returned to Washington County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday in a continuation of a 2017 drug case. Brittni Cheyenne Messick, 27, whose last known address was 460 Muskingum Drive, Marietta, was first arrested in February 2017 for possession of methamphetamine and had a previous charge for illegal conveyance of drugs into a government facility. Messick pleaded guilty to aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a fifth-degree felony, and illegal conveyance of drugs, a third-degree felony, and was sentenced to one year of community control and treatment by Judge Mark Kerenyi under the supervision of the Adult Parole Authority. ....
