The former Marietta Middle School basketball coach accused of rape and unlawful sexual conduct with minors was granted a personal recognizance bond in Washington County Common Pleas Court on Thursday.
Crystal Burke, 41, of 6625 State Route 60, Lowell, faces nine felony counts in the case of four alleged minor victims.
“I think I’ve added correctly, the longest prison term you face if you’re convicted of everything and the court running the (sentences) consecutively is 56.5 years,” explained Washington County Common Pleas Judge Mark Kerenyi in arraignment Thursday. ....

Less than two weeks after his wife was sentenced to nine months in prison, a Marietta man was also sentenced Monday to nine months in prison for sex crimes upon a minor.
Ryan William Seevers, 24, of 129 Shook Road, was indicted in November 2020 for rape, a first-degree felony; complicity in the commission of an offense, also a first-degree felony; and gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony.
His wife, Lyrisha Marie Seevers, 23, of 276 Ridgewood Drive, Apt. G, Marietta, was indicted on the same charges. The pair pleaded guilty to an amended count of attempted gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony. ....

One-half of a duo in a joint case of sex crimes upon a minor was sentenced to prison Thursday in Washington County Common Pleas Court.
Lyrisha Marie Seevers, 23, of 276 Ridgewood Drive, Apt. G, Marietta, was initially indicted with rape, a first-degree felony; complicity in the commission of an offense, also a first-degree felony; and gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony.
Co-defendant Ryan William Seevers, Lyrisha’s 24-year-old husband of 129 Shook Road, Marietta, was also indicted on the same charges in November of 2020. ....

Knowlton sentenced for assault charge | News, Sports, Jobs

A New Matamoras man who pleaded guilty of felonious assault in the beating of his father with a metal baseball bat was sentenced to five years community control Tuesday morning.
Jerran Knowlton, 41, of 6658 Archers Fork Road, pleaded guilty Jan. 21 to the second-degree felony. He was indicted in February 2020 for attempted murder and two counts of felonious assault.
It was reported by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in January 2020 that Richard Knowlton, Jerran’s father, was bleeding from his head after being beaten by his son.
At Knowlton’s plea hearing, Washington County Assistant Prosecutor Jim Schneider said after he was arrested, the defendant was found incompetent to stand trial. Knowlton was held in a mental health facility in Columbus for about five months before he was deemed competent to stand trial. ....
