Now for hours, this neighborhood was blocked off as Police Helicopters swat teams and officers surrounded the suspects home in hopes of negotiating his surrender. A suspect is in custody after he allegedly shot and wounded a San Jose Police officer as she was responding to a family disturbance. It happened at a home near race street and ausable avenue just before eight in the morning. Shortly after arrival, officers made contact at the residence and immediately began taking fire from a suspect. One officer was hit by gunfire and was transported to a local hospital for that injury. The name of that officer was withheld and her condition was not released. Its unclear whether she or other officers returned fire and whether that suspect was hit.
