Recent Cronkite graduate Athena Ankrah won a 2023 national student Edward R. Murrow Award in the Audio Feature Reporting category for a story highlighting the challenges encountered by Black farmers.
Arizona State University students took home five national awards at the Society of Professional Journalists 2022 Mark of Excellence Awards, more than any other university in the nation.
The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University captured major awards at the national 2023 Broadcast Education Association’s (BEA) Festival of Media Arts contest. Cronkite students won 31 awards, including four first place finishes and two “Best of Festival” awards. The “Best of Festival” prizes are the highest honors awarded at the festival, with only 12 student winners chosen from more than 1,650 entries.
Tempe plans to use $60 million to reopen the Kyrene Water Reclamation Facility. The plant will help recycle water as Arizona struggles with its worst drought in 1,200 years.
Although a large portion of the state is a desert, Arizona has a deep agricultural history. In fact, more than a third of the state is still considered farmland. But the pandemic revealed vulnerabilities when it comes to supplying ourselves with food.
