Aumkareshwar Thakur, accused of creating the 'Sulli Deals' app on GitHub, sought to club multiple FIRs against him in Supreme Court. The court questioned can FIRs be clubbed when multiple women have been affected.
In July 2021, an FIR was registered by the Delhi Police and it was alleged that on a hosting platform 'Github', a program namely 'Sulli deal of the day' was created where pictures of several Muslim women were uploaded without their consent, purportedly for online auction.
A bench headed by Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul issued notice to the Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra police and sought their affidavits within three weeks
The bench observed that since there were multiple uploads to the platform affecting multiple women, the FIRs against the 'Sulli Deals' creator could not be clubbed together, as was being sought.
