How to safely wash your car after it's been covered in Saharan dust

Much of Western Europe has repeatedly been swept by clouds of Saharan dust in recent weeks, turning the skies hazy and diminishing air quality, with parts of the continent shrouded in a particularly orange tinge over the Easter weekend. The small particles blown up all the way from the Sahara Desert can be a particular nuisance for drivers, as the dust tends to meticulously cover cars. Dust alone is not a problem for your vehicle, but the particles arriving from the Sahara can cause damage when

Giving your EV battery the treatment it deserves

Batteries are a vital element in the performance of your electric car, and they need a little looking after. That's a bit of a balancing act because, if possible, EV batteries should never be completely drained, but they should not be fully charged either. Experts from Germany's Auto Club Europa (ACE) say that the ideal way to ensure a long battery life is to always stop charging at 80%. In everyday life, of course, this works best for people who only use their e-car for shorter distances. As a

10 tips to help you sell your car

If you want to sell your car as profitably as possible, the best place to start is with decent photos. — dpa
There are a few ways you can make the difficult business of selling your car yourself slightly easier – and ideally more profitable.
1. Clean up to cash in: You can charge more if your car is thoroughly cleaned and has had an overhaul. “Usually, that investment pays for itself, ” says Marcel Muehlich of the Auto Club Europa (ACE).
You’ll also want to make sure you’re well informed about the current state of the car in terms of technology and that you have all the necessary papers, which may include vehicle registration, purchase paperwork and test certificates, says Johannes Boos of Germany’s ADAC, Europe’s biggest car club.

Lean, green and serene: Electric scooters are quietly taking off

Electric scooters have zero local emissions and are far quieter than their petrol-engined counterparts. — dpa
It's never been easier to get around on two wheels and a battery, whether it’s a bike, a motorcycle or a motor scooter.
The popularity of electric scooters has silently skyrocketed in many countries like no other form of transport over the past four or five years, thanks in part to their motors – almost silent compared to the deafening howls of their petrol counterparts.
“This is not least due to the fact that these electric motor scooters, most of which come from China, are getting cheaper and cheaper, as the technology is much simpler compared to a conventional one, ” says Constantin Hack, a tech expert at Auto Club Europa (ACE).
