MERIDEN — The Board of Education last week voted unanimously to terminate the employment of a long-time Lincoln Middle School teacher with whom the board is currently engaged in an ongoing legal dispute.
According to court filings, the teacher, Patricia Carnese of Old Saybrook, had filed related lawsuits against the Meriden Board of Education in federal court and in state court in Middletown. The complaints were filed in July and August 2020, nearly a year before the board’s vote to terminate Carnese’s employment.

They are among the most notable school elections on the Missouri side of the Kansas City area on Tuesday. In addition, residents in eight districts will decide whether to be a part of the taxing district of Metropolitan Community College. And other school districts are asking voters to approve millions of dollars in bonds to fund new schools and other projects.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Leaders from the Platte County, Missouri, R-3 School District will host an information session Thursday evening to answer questions about a no tax levy bond initiative on the April ballot.
District leaders are quick to point out the bond will not raise taxes within the district.
Superintendent Dr. Mike Reik said the district can offer the bond without raising taxes for two reasons. First, he said the district has paid off previous bonds faster than anticipated. And second, the tax base is growing as more development takes place within the district boundaries.
