Plans by a pair of brothers from Danbury to build a $2.3 Million multifamily apartment building in New Milford, have been approved. Scott and David Benincasa plan to build a four-story multifamily apartment building on Church Street in New Milford. There will be parking on the ground floor. The zoning commission has now given it the thumbs up. Now, the next step for the brothers is to apply for the actual building permit. They say in addition to providing more housing options in New Milford, their building will also draw more people to the downtown area there.

Cantor Penny Kessler, the senior clergy and spiritual leader at the United Jewish Center in Danbury, has announced her retirement. Kessler has been leading the prayers at UJC for 28 years. It was back in 1978 when Kessler and her husband relocated from her original home in Brooklyn, to Danbury, where her spouse planned to open his dental practice. She worked as a secretary for a while and then in her husband’s dental office. She also raised three children as she planned on becoming a dental hygienist. A former pediatrician and infectious disease physician at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, has agreed to not renew his medical license to avoid punishment by the State Medical Examining Board. Dr. Nicholas Bennett is accused of having a sexual relationship with a patient. Today, the board will vote on whether or not to drop the charges against Bennett pending the expiration of his license on April 30th. Bennett is accused of “grooming” a patient from November 2017 to November 2018 for an “intimate or sexual relationship.” He now lives in Florida, and does no...

Lawmakers in Hartford now want to restore Connecticut’s Shore Line East route, and they say they also have plans to add train service to New Milford. It comes along with Governor Lamont’s multi-billion-dollar effort to improve commuter rail service along the New Haven and Hartford lines. Republicans also want to extend the Danbury Branch line to include service to New Milford… a distance of about 15 miles. Bot projects are now part of a new single piece of rail legislation. The Transportation Committee voted unanimously last month to send the bill to the Senate floor.

That small plane that crashed earlier this week between two homes on Southern Boulevard in Danbury and was left on top of a shed, has been sawed up and removed. The Cessna 152 crashed on Monday. Yesterday afternoon it was finally taken away and now it will be gone over piece by piece as part of an investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board to determine just what happened. The FAA is also involved in that investigation. Meanwhile, the shed that it had been sitting on was completely destroyed. The house next to it that the plane hit will be repaired.
