I went to all the parks in the Bayview. Here s what it was like. Where is everybody? Sure, it’s a Tuesday, but I somehow have the 44-acre Bayview Park almost entirely to myself on a sunny afternoon. Aside from one woman and her dog, and a few city workers I saw driving to the radio tower, the trails are empty, and the 360-degree view that includes the bay, the downtown skyline, and the Bay Bridge is unobstructed. Birds are chirping loudly, towering eucalyptus trees sway in the breeze and the distant sound of Highway 101 hums in the background. ....

In the back corner of the second floor, mirrored mylar spills out onto the wooden walkway. Inside, the small music studio is wallpapered in silver and Luis “The Genie” Monterrosa wears a glossy reflective suit to match, his long dreadlocks poking out behind a mask that looks like a cross between recently deceased rapper MF DOOM’s signature faceplate and a cheese grater. Even out into the parking lot, his car interior is draped in sparkling decorations. ....
