A homeless man who unleashed an unprovoked attack on two men in their 80s in June 2022 will spend the rest of his life in psychiatric custody.
The man who attacked two elderly men near a bus stop last year -eventually leaving one dead from injuries sustained- was found guilty for insanity on all charges and sentenced to lifetime commitment at the Oregon State Hospital, the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office announced Friday.
Multnomah County’s ban on flavored tobacco and nicotine products is set to go into effect on Jan. 1 after surviving a court challenge.
The ruling was in response to a recent lawsuit by the 21+ Tobacco and Vapor Retail Association of Oregon that alleged the ordinance – passed unanimously in December 2022 – was “unlawful and unenforceable.”
