He’s finished second in four Grade 1 races in New York this year, so it would be nice to finally win a race at some stage
Three Diamonds Farm’s Cross Border posted a mild upset in the $200,000 Cape Henlopen Stakes on Saturday at Delaware Park.
He will be in search of his first win in 10 attempts over the Belmont green, having hit the board on four occasions.
“He ran a really good race last time. He didn't win, but was beaten half a length for second. He's been a real warrior,” Mott said.
“Hopefully, he can go back to Saratoga next year over hurdles,” Brion said. “He really loves the jumping. Even in general, he seems a lot more eager to train and do things. He’s 8-years-old and has been doing the same thing his whole life, so it might just be enough to really spark him up again. He’s doing great, he’s a class old horse.”
