Board member Don Was talks Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and more ahead of this weekend's Folk & Americana Roots Hall of Fame ceremony.

A native of Plymouth, Dick Waterman served as a chronicler of the rebirth of the blues and of the resurrection of the careers of aging bluesmen, and as a conduit from the clubs of Boston and Cambridge to the Mississippi Delta.

He also served as dean of Columbia Law School and helped start two for-profit private school ventures.

During his six years leading Yale, he fought with the faculty over painful budget cuts, changes that left many people bitter but the university better off in its finances and academic direction.

A noted constitutional law scholar, he also led Columbia University Law School and two networks of for-profit private schools.
