In 1967, she was directed as one of the groups of army list and women to serve in vietnam. After her retirement from the army she worked with the Washington State department of veterans affairs. Since her retirement she has been active in her community and received one of the governors 50 volunteer awards for her work with the homeless, and also received Washington States outstanding Women Veterans award for 2011.
