Red Wing Launches New "Out of Fashion" Global Campaign


Iconic US footwear imprint Red Wing has just launched their new global campaign celebrating and showcasing real stories of real people who live intentionally “out of fashion.” 
The campaign, featuring words by Hunter S. Thompson and supporting visuals directed by Akinola Davis Jr., aims to showcase people who do things differently, challenging the status quo and defying expectations. 
The lead faces of the campaign include viral Octogenarian couple and owners of Want Show Laundry, Wan-ji and Sho-er aka Mr and Mrs Chang from Taiwan. The couple made waves this year when they began sharing outfits assembled from forgotten laundry on their Instagram, using their new platform to bring awareness to sustainable fashion. This is the pair’s first-ever brand partnership and, together with Red Wing, they’ve selected 20 one-of-a-kind ‘forgotten’ boots from the brand’s archive that will be embossed with the laundromat logo and auctioned on eBay from March 1 ....

Industrial boot maker Red Wing Shoes launched a global advertising campaign Tuesday focusing on its intentionally Out of Fashion Red Wing Heritage line of leather and double stitched footwear.

The initial 12 advertisements hitting social media sites today will run for several months. The video commercials, which will run in Red Wing Shoe stores around the world and online, feature real people wearing the Heritage boot as the story is told about their work, lives and passions.
Three of the Out of Fashion commercials were filmed in Taiwan, London, and Philadelphia. A fourth ad is a 90-second anthem featuring the individuals in the first three spots paired with a voice-over reading a letter written by the late, avant-garde journalist Hunter S. Thompson. ....
