Inflicted upon them by those they trusted. rosa florez is live in rome with more. what s happening today? reporter: alisyn, pope francis really setting a very firm tone ahead of the meeting telling bishops that they must come up with concrete measures and normally we have to read between the lines or talk to experts. this time we obtained a list of what pope francis is talking about. number seven on the list is holding bishops accountable. the big question, of course, is are the bishops in the room qualified to make change within the church? we talked to survivors who say some of the bishops aren t, starting with the american bishops. reporter: just days before catholic bishops from around the world gather in rome to confront ....

We believe that our projections show that the balance we will submit will actually balance. it will balance at the same time the republicans budget balanced last year, which is out in the future, around 2040, because we put ourselves on a path downward. but our priority, our priority is to have job growth. and their budget will slow job growth at exactly the wrong time. but aren t you also building something that s false in the political climate that republicans face? i mean, here the senate budget requires more tax increases, roughly a trillion dollars. you know how difficult it is for your colleague here to go back to bakersfield or other conservatives to go back to the districts and say we need more tax increases when there simply isn t support for that. david, two things. one, the senate democratic plan has less tax revenue embedded in it than the bipartisan simpson/bowles plan, number one. number two, republicans in their budget say they re about $5.7 trillion in tax breaks t ....
