The size, the scope of the damage and what kind of damage could these plumes entail? well, i ll tell you, alex, i think the discovery of these plumes really confirms what most people in the industry thought from the very first day and that is that the flow from the well is much higher than the initial estimate of 5,000 barrels a day. many scientists i ve been read ing about or talking to have said 20,000 to 25,000 and one even came up with the number as high as 70,000 barrels a day. that makes a lot more sense to me, the 20,000, 50,000 barrels a day because these big, deep water wells are very, very productive. bob, i m trying to understand if if you have this plume, ten miles long, three miles wide, 300 feet thick, what is this some big giant glob en masse that s just sitting there or is it moving in the water? and what happens to anything that it encounters? it s going to move with the loop current in the gulf. ....
