And thats been the theme of this entire earnings season when it comes to the industrials, the banks, and oil stocks, a huge part of the market. That explains a lot of the moves weve been seeing today. Where is this counterintuitive pattern most evident . The Big International companies. The ones that make the heavy equipment and capital goods. Lets talk about a storied industrial, Emerson Electric. Related to the companies i study and not the shape of their charts the off the chart segment is both ant thet cal to my traditional stock picking methods. I know from your feedback on twitter that youre interested in this annual sills and its proven itself time and time again to get a lot of people involved at the right levels. Not for me as i explain and get rich carefully where i deaf vote a whole chapter to charting have i become a chartist myself. I single out stocks to research and i overlay them on my broader world view at the moment. Chartists could care less about this stuff, they often dont care what the company does. I wonder if they could do their jobs with the Companies Names blacked out. In fact, i am sure they could. That was easy. At one point today when the indices broke down, i heard a collective sigh. And i was pretty shocked that i didnt get hit by a white flag of surrender after i walked down wall street after the show. But the facts refused to align with negative story. I think today was one of those times. As we saw a terrific rebound in the averages, after a second bout of hideous selling this morning. The dow closing up two points. The nasdaq declining 2. 4 . First, lets deal with the negativity. Its coming from four different directions. Sell sell sell sell. Sell sell sell sell. Worry number one, chinas falling apart. No matter that its been falling apart for ages or the chinese stock market is not creating wealth, many cant handle the stress of waiting for the other chinese shoe to drop after mondays break down.
