If you look at the whole year as theatre, as a real acts of tragedy, theres an almost poetic feeling to it. 1968 was one god damn thing after another. Hardly a day goes by without a new report of another demonstration or protest against the vietnam war. There is, in the land, a certain restlessness. Lyndon johnson, whatever else one thinks of him, his reputation will always have the stone of vietnam around it. We live in the middle of a beast. Lyndon johnson is a common murderer. Johnson did things that no other president did. Civil rights, great society. He should have been somebody that ever...
