The federal government is not cooperating with the commission of inquiry it formed itself in January to probe into the Broadsheet scandal as the Ministry of Law, the Ministry of Finance and the Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) office have not provided it the relevant records.
According to sources, only the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) – which acquired the services of the Broadsheet LLC, an assets recovery firm, in 2000 – has provided records to the one-man inquiry commission headed by apex court former judge, Azmat Saeed Sheikh.

LONDON: Broadsheet LLC -- hired to recover money and assets from the Sharifs – has ended up making a payment of around £20,000 to the Sharif family in a lawsuit before the London High Court, according to legal evidence.

Recovery of Rs485m: Broadsheet instructs lawyers to seize further Pakistan assets

LONDON: The Broadsheet LLC has instructed its lawyers at Crowell & Moring LLP to initiate proceedings to seize further Pakistan assets after failing to get a reply from the Pakistan government’s lawyers at Allen & Overy for the recovery of nearly $2.2 million (Rs485 million) outstanding amount.
This correspondence understands that Kaveh Mousavi, Broadsheet’s CEO, instructed his lawyers on Wednesday to initiate the assets seizure operation. Broadsheet’s lawyers told that the decision has been taken after Allen & Overy failed to engage with Broadsheet in ten days after assuring on 1st February 2021 that Pakistan desires “to resolve the matter without the need for further enforcement action” but failing to confirm to Crowell & Moring that it has new instructions from Pakistan about the outstanding issues.

Geo News reported that Broadsheet's CEO Kaveh Mousavi has instructed his lawyers at Crowell and Morning to initiate the assets-seizure operation after previously successfully seizing Pakistani assets through the orders of the London High Court.
The company's lawyers have informed that the decision was taken after law firm Allen and Overy failed to engage with Broadsheet despite giving assurances on February 1 that Pakistan desires "to resolve the matter without the need for further enforcement action," but failing to confirm further whether it had the instructions to deal with the matter or not.
