It’s been a while since this New Jersey bluegrass-inspired jamband as released an album! This is their first time to record down in New Orleans, and with famed musician Anders Osborne as producer: “There are five producers in this band, so a strong-willed voice from the outside is usually pretty essential. Anders was the voice,” according to drummer Carey Harmon…. It’s also their first one since losing cofounder Andy Goessling to cancer in 2018, so there’s an additional level of bittersweet, raw emotion on this one. ....

The Ferguson of this trio is Pat, a Madison singer-songwriter and former Smokin Bandits lead guitarist. Fans of adventurous acoustic music will certainly know the other two names as well: Tim Carbone is a multi-instrumentalist and member of Railroad Earth; and Elliott Peck is a Midnight North member and solo artist. Carbone produced and Peck plays on the forthcoming new album by Ferguson, and before its release they are heading out on a brief tour for a new collaborative trio project that emerged from the album sessions and continued to grow remotely during the pandemic. The Ferguson, Carbone, & Peck trio is set to launch their inaugural tour this Summer with five shows in Colorado at the end of June, followed by six dates across the Midwest at the end of July. Tim Carbone, renowned producer and multi-instrumentalist for Railroad Earth and The High Hawks (whose self-titled debut record is due out June 11, 2021 on LoHi Records), had this to say about this new collaboration: “I couldn t be more excited to make some music with these two brilliant songwriters and musicians! It s a beautiful bonus that they are both humans of gem like quality,” said Carbone. “Tim and Elliott really have become two of my favorite people, musicians, and collaborators alike,” added Pat Ferguson. “I’m so thrilled to hit the road with them this Summer and stretch the collaborative legs of this new trio.” ....

Confidence Man by Pat Ferguson has been the song to help process all this muck and mire. With arrangements on vocals by Elliott Peck and moody string arrangements from Tim Carbone, this song evokes the prism of a looking glass when it comes to this crazy roller coaster that is the 2020s thus far.
