Richard F. Larsen

Richard F. Larsen (Dick), a longtime resident of Santa Monica, California, passed away on August 27, 2022. Born in North Dakota in 1936, the son of Ralph and Ella (Lundby) Larsen, he was raised in Grand Forks where he enjoyed playing hockey, baseball, and spending summers on his grandparents’ farms. Following graduation from Central High School, Dick attended Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Between his sophomore and junior years he had the honor of serving his country in the United States Army. Dick returned to Harvard where he graduated cum laude in 1960 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics. While in college, Dick fortuitously went on a blind date with Christine Ellen Frawley, who would become his wife and partner of more than 52 years. Dick continued his education at the London School of Economics where in 1963 he earned his Ph.D. in agricultural economics.
