The 7-Eleven located at the corner of Noe and 18th streets has permanently closed as of March 4, reports Hoodline, and residents are keen on seeing a new business take its place.
Over the years, the Castro District convenience store was the subject of frequent contention among customers and employees alike, who complained of frequent shoplifting, loitering, and lack of cleanliness, as well as fear for their safety.
“This is a hard corner to keep in order, but she was doing so with a smile,” a recent Yelp reviewer observed of an employee at the store.

For small business owners across San Francisco, there’s nothing more frustrating than a broken store window.
But they’re an all too common sight in the city, so much so that San Francisco's Castro District Merchants Association launched a survey last week to find out what the true toll has been on the neighborhood in the past year. As of publication, area shops have reported 72 incidents of vandalized and broken windows since January 2020, at a total cost of $135,472.74, and the responses are still coming in.
