CDO virus remains unknown | The Manila Times

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: An official of the Department of Health (DoH) in Cagayan de Oro City said that the virus that caused flu-like illnesses on students and faculty members of some schools here remains unknown.In a statement released to the local media dated September 27, a health official allayed fears of a Nepah virus outbreak and assured the public that the country remains free of the said virus.Acting DoH regional director Ellenietta Gamolo said that while the ill-stricken students and faculty members exhibited symptoms of the viral disease, it is not caused by Nepah virus.School officials in private universities and colleges here suspended classes on Wednesday after several students and faculty members showed influenza-like symptoms.Local health officials here mounted citywide surveillance on ill-stricken individuals as the local government issued directives to observe minimal health protocols such as the regular washing of hands, the wearing of face masks and social distancing.Gamolo encourages the public to exercise steps for the prevention of the flu-like disease until such time that the virus is identified.
