Two new markets are coming to the Chaffee area the weekend of May 1. âI think itâs just a great deal for the community and Chaffee and the surrounding areas,â Andy Sadler said. On Saturday, more than 35 vendors will set up at the Rock ân Roll Drive-In just outside of Chaffee. Organizer Sarah Estes explained how having the market later in the day can help meet the communityâs needs.

(KFVS) - Multiple fire departments battled an early morning fire in Chaffee on Monday, March 8. Crews were called at approximately 1:45 a.m. to a mobile home fire at trailer park on Sherry Lynn Lane. According to Chaffee Fire Chief Sam Glency, it’s not clear how many people were living in the home, but one person was taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation and burns to their hands. The home is considered a total loss.
Two former longtime employees of Bestway Disposal have joined with two trucking industry veterans to form Carefree Disposal, the latest entrant into the suddenly crowded Colorado Springs trash market. Darrell Stutzman and Renae Rockwell left Bestway last year, two years after the company was acquired by Canadian waste giant GFL Environmental, and joined with Scott and Ricky Saunders of local trucking company Carefree Heavy Haul to form Carefree Disposal last month. The new company plans to begin picking up trash March 1 from homes in western and central Colorado Springs and expand to the entire city within three years. Carefree joins GFL, Waste Management, Waste Connections and Infinite Disposal, which expanded Feb. 1 from Teller and Chaffee counties to the Colorado Springs area. Carefree and Infinite say they decided to enter the Colorado Springs market after Waste Connections acquired Springs Waste Systems, the area’s last major locally owned trash company, in December to become the area’s largest trash hauler.

In 2019, the Armstrong family demolished the decades old restaurant and replaced it with a wedding venue. âWe are so excited to host and celebrate all things love,â partner at Annex WNY, Stephane Armstrong said. The Armstrong family broke ground on this property in February and now, they are booking tours and events. The 16 thousand square foot venue can host up 400 people. âWeâre hoping thatâs sooner than later, but for now weâre abiding by all state mandates," another partner at Annex WNY, Samantha Armstrong said.
