The 2022 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show has been postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic and the spread of the omicron variant.

The 146th Annual Westminster Dog Show, which was supposed to take place at Madison Square Garden on January 25 and 26, was postponed because of surging virus cases in the city, event organizers said Wednesday. The nationally televised event will be rescheduled to a later date in 2022.

The show kicked off with an agility competition Friday, followed by weekend events including the traditional breed judging that leads to the best in show title.
