CSPAN3 House Hearing On Child Care Amid Coronavirus Pandemic July 12, 2024

Right here. I think were all pretty familiar with this new virtual setting. But because this is our First Virtual hearing of this subcommittee, i want to take a moment to provide members with a few reminders before we begin. We will proceed in the same fashion as this committee always has. We will begin with Opening Statements by the chair and Ranking Member. Followed by testimony from our witnesses and an opportunity for every member to inquire for five minutes. We will dispense with our practice of observing the gibbons rule and instead go in in order of seniority for questioning, alternating between minority and majority members. Members are advised that the clerk may mute those who are not speaking in order to limit background noise and feedback. All members are responsible for unmuting themselves. When they are r ....

Advocates and educators testifying on childcare access and affordability in the u. S. Before the Senate Health education labor and pensions committee. They discuss expanding childcare access and the impact of available childcare on the economy and training and education requirements for caregivers and educators. This is about two hours. Lets get the show in the. Road Senate Committee on House Institution and labor coming to order. And let me begin by thanking all of our panelists for being here for what will be i think a very important discussion of what tens of millions of families in this country. CSPAN Key Capitol Hill Hearings November 6, 2014

Fundamentally different from a president ial election. Different people vote. I looked at the House National exit poll and i made this point on the news hour but i will make again. Paring the 2014 elected electorate to the 2010 electorate i know this comes as a shock but not everybody votes. Whats important to me as a handicapper is who votes and now with the National Public opinion is. 2014 to 2012 and the 2014 electorate was more older, more male, or republican, wealthier and more of them said the country is headed on the wrong track. Probably should not surprise you those voters voted or republican. But even more than that in 2012, the exit polls said do you disapprove of the job barack obama is doing . Approve, 53 , disapprove, 46 . It shocked a lot of us. Midtoed him in the upper 40s. When people voted, that is who voted. This time, do you approve or disapprove, 44 appr ....

CSPAN Key Capitol Hill Hearings November 6, 2014

First of all, lets not make too much of this. A majority of the people who vote yesterday were female. It was 5149. But it was less than we a point or so less, but it wasnt like there was a huge shift in the gender balance in the electorate that voted yesterday. Women have a tendency to place a higher priority on issues like education and health care and i think any politicians, republican or democrat who hopes to appeal to women has got to have something intelligent to say about both of those issues. We dont have as many people as we need to be able to articulate a position on education. Its not coincidence that the last republican president was very, very good and talked a lot about education. Lamar alexander talks a lot about education. We dont have as many as we need to paint a compelling picture. Good point. By the way, i would say the last two republican president s good point. George bush senior we may disagree with their policies but they articulated strongly on education. And ....
