After nearly a year of closures, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has given movie theaters in New York City permission to reopen at limited capacity starting on March 5.
During his daily press briefing, the Empire State leader said cinemas in the city will be permitted to operate at 25% capacity, with no more than 50 people. Moreover, other safety measures such as masks, social distancing and heightened sanitizing measures will be required. Last October, New York venues outside of the city were allowed to reopen with similar restrictions.

The embattled production powerhouse Beijing Culture has emerged as the biggest publicly-listed winner of the Chinese New Year box office bonanza. Its stock price has climbed 18% since the start of the holiday thanks to the success of its hit comedy “Hi Mom.”
The boost is a much needed one following two years of losses and a government investigation late last year that unveiled mismanagement and inaccurate figures in its prior financial statements. The stock has a history of spiking sharply upwards on good news, only to head lower at other times

The Hong Kong Disneyland theme park will reopen on Friday (Feb. 19, 2021) after being closed due to a fourth wave of the coronavirus outbreak in the city. All visitors will have to provide their contact details to the operator.
Hong Kong Disneyland was closed twice previously in 2020 due to virus surges. The third reopening move was announced Wednesday and came after the city’s health authorities found only eight new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, allowing government to announce a relaxation of some social distancing measures.

The new measures allow the territory’s two large tourist attractions to reopen and its cinemas to restart. Ocean Park, which recently secured a government bailout and announced plans for a business overhaul, will reopen on Thursday.

China's Cinema Screen Count Leaps Despite COVID Closures

Despite nearly six months of cinema closures due to COVID-19, China actually built nearly 6,000 more new screens in 2020, according to a new report from the country’s film authorities.
The data contradicts the disastrous predictions made over the summer about the extent to which the pandemic would devastate the Chinese exhibition sector.
More from Variety
China now boasts 75,581 screens nationwide at some 12,700 complexes, having built 5,794 more screens last year, said the National Office for Special Film Funds, a committee under the direct management of the powerful Central Propaganda Department made up of cadres from that body and the Ministry of Finance. Growth did slow, however: to compare, China built around 9,700 new screens in both 2019 and 2018. It began 2020 with around 69,800 screens at some 12,400 complexes.
