Initial August unemployment claims in Nevada see double digit percentage decrease

CARSON CITY — Initial claims for unemployment insurance benefits in Nevada decreased by 10.7 percent in August, when compared to the same month last year, at 9,580 claims, making it the largest year-over-year decrease in claims since March of 2017, according to figures released Tuesday from the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.

Adventure cyclist, Lake Tahoe photographer Rick Gunn to cycle Iran to promote 'Wheels of Peace' project

South Lake Tahoe photographer Rick Gunn, who rode his bike around the world from 2005 to 2008, is on a mission to find a pathway to peace in Iran. Gunn and Iranian friend Mohammad Tajeran, also a world-traveled cyclist, are raising money to fund the "Wheels of Peace Iranian-American Children’s Art Project."
