One of two Navy sailors declared dead after being lost at sea during a ship raid near Somalia was a North Texan, according to military officials.
The two U.S. Navy SEALs presumed dead after an 11-day search and rescue mission off the coast of Somalia graduated from Naval Base Coronado, Department of Defense officials said in a release Monday.
The SEALs were identified as Special Warfare Operator 1st Class Christopher J. Chambers and Special Warfare Operator 2nd Class Nathan Gage Ingram
Christopher J. Chambers, 37, and Nathan Gage Ingram, 27, are the first known U.S. fatalities in the Biden administration’s effort to thwart attacks from Iranian-backed Houthis.
The 11-day search and rescue mission to locate the two SEALs was called off on Sunday and became a recovery effort. And on Monday, the Navy released their names, after their families were notified.
