琼崖从"无马"到"实蕃"—— 海南小马"哒哒哒"-新闻中心-南海网

　　南渡江上的司马坡、府城的洗马桥、三亚的马岭村、陵水椰林镇的安马洋、琼海长坡镇的马俑村……如今，在海南各个市县，都存在着许多以马命名的地方，但民间却几乎见不到马的踪迹。这诸多与马相关的地名从何而来呢？
　　在古代，马是人类的伙伴、战友，生产、运输、战争都离不开它。伯乐相马、千里走单骑、秦琼卖马……中国多少传奇故事围绕马来讲述，那海南古代是否有马？海南与马又有着怎样的渊源？翻开历史的书页，关于海南马的零碎文字记载，与留传下来的地名相互印证，碰撞出“哒哒哒”的历史回声。

　史志中的海南“马”记录
　　海南没有马的说法自古有之，最早在《汉书・地理志》中记载：海南“亡马与虎，民有五畜。”这里的五畜为“牛、羊、豕、鸡、犬”，唯独没有马，唐代至清代，许多史志都沿用了这个说法，《旧唐书・地理志》中记载：“汉武帝元封元年，遣使自徐闻南入海，得大洲，东西南北方ー千里，略以为珠崖、儋耳郡。民种禾稻、纯麻，女子蚕织。无马与虎，有牛、羊、豕、鸡、犬。”到了明代的正德《琼台志》，依然保留有“亡马与虎”的说法。
　　今天儋州有白马井，民间传说是汉代伏波将军马援南征时，因将军的白马用蹄刨沙涌出清泉而得名。1961年，郭沫若游览考察白马井，《白马井港》的诗序中写道：传说伏波将军来此时，有白马蹴地得泉，凿井因名“白马”。此望文生训之说耳，实则白马即是伏波，古无轻唇音，伏读如白，波马音亦相近。由此古音，可断定伏波将军确曾前来儋耳。唯不知系路伏波还是马伏波。
　　但马援本人是否真的来过海南，学术界尚存争论。南宋王象之编撰的地理总志《舆地纪胜》有另外一个说法：“白马井：唐咸通中，命辛、傅、李、赵四将部兵来湳滩。船过海，兵马渴甚，有白马嘶啖，以足跑沙，美泉涌出。”这里还是白马刨沙的说法，只不过把时间和人物换成了唐代，但不论是哪种，白马井都与马密切相关。
　　在唐代，马还不是海南岛老百姓的常用牲畜。唐代刘恂撰编撰的《岭表录异》中记录了岭南的物产，其中写道：“琼州不产驴马，多骑黄牛，亦饰以鞍鞯，加之衔勒。可骑者自小习，其步骤，亦甚有稳快者。”当时海南人民还是骑黄牛的多，而且熟练者可以骑得又稳又快。
　　古人作史志，多喜欢在古本的基础完善，或作删减修正。到了宋代，关于海南马的记录中已多了一句“今其地无虎，而马实蕃”，意思是海南岛上的马实在是很多了。
　　
　　到了宋代，关于海南多马的记载很多，南宋周去非在《岭外代答》之《海外黎蛮》中对海南各类土产记载中，把小马列于海南土产之中。宋明时期，海南小马的名声，传播到了岛外。
　　据《宋史·占城传》记载，宋乾道七年（1171年），一名福建人想渡海到吉阳军（今三亚市），他的船被风吹到了占城（今越南南部），正好遇上占城与真腊（今柬埔寨境内）交战，双方都乘大象作战而胜负不决。于是这位福建人就告诉占城的国王要学习马上骑射，国王听从了他的建议，并用船送他回到吉阳买了几十匹马回来参战，于是占城大败真腊。
　　这可以说是关于海南马出口贸易的最早记录。尝到了马上骑射的甜头，第二年，占城人又想来海南买马，得到的结果却是“琼州拒之”，于是他们“愤怒大掠而归”。到了1175年，宋朝实行严格的马禁，规定不得将战马出售给外蕃。
　　宋明时期，海南的马与中原的马有明显的不同，首先便是它身材上的矮小。明代顾玠所著的《海槎余录》中写道：“马产于海南者极小，只可许之驴骡而身稍长耳，毛片不殊于中州，当少剪综时，极骏可爱，然骑驶则无长力，上等价可四两，寻常不出二两。”这样的一匹小马，真可谓是当时的“萌物”。
　　这般可爱的小马，自然少不了要上贡给朝廷，在明代，小马便是海南有名的“土贡”。《明史》中，海南进贡小马的记载很多：“（永乐）六年，铭复率土黎峒首王贤祐、王惠、王存礼等来朝，贡马。”“（永乐）十六年，感恩土知县楼吉禄率峒首贡马。”“临高民黄茂……率黎首王聚、符喜等来朝贡马。”“儋州昌化县黎人峒首赵克勇来朝贡马及方物。”归顺明廷的黎族首领，仿佛不是在贡马，就是在贡马的路上。

　　今天府城还有洗马桥，据说古时人们骑马进府城，总要在城前桥下用清净的河水给马梳洗，人与马整洁后方能入城，久而久之，这里的桥就被叫为洗马桥。而南渡江上的司马坡岛，土地肥沃、水草丰美，是一处喂养马匹的好去处。相传古时这里是养马的地方，因而被人们称之为“饲马坡”，后传为“司马坡”。
　　直到民国初期，海南岛上民间养马还有一定数量。民国时期由陈铭枢主编的《海南岛志》一书中写道：“本岛马匹以儋、崖、昌、感为多，用以代步。惟饲养不善，行走迟缓。有用以拖车者，皆矮小。寻常每匹约值二三十元。” 民国《感恩县志》中也说：“马，有红、白、黑三种，《汉书・地理志》谓珠崖、儋耳无马与虎。今则无虎，而马则遍地皆产矣。”
　　1932年，广东省国民政府组织专家到海南实地考察，调查后发表《琼崖畜牧病调査报告》：海南“马体格细小，性颇耐劳，多用以代步，惟琼山则用以拖车。定安黎属马匹较多，惟无繁殖场所。”
　　但民国却是海南小马最后的荣光，由于近代科技的传入，汽车和公路出现在海南岛，使马匹、马车的代步功能渐渐被替代，加上“无繁殖场所”，也无法像民国时期大量出口的猪一样打开海外市场，马的养殖在海南渐渐少了。
　　根据当时的一个调查，1939年，日军侵琼前，琼崖家畜总数约为：牛75万头，其中黄牛45万头、水牛30万头，猪75万头，山羊13万只，马500匹。抗日战争胜利后，海南畜牧业生产开始恢复，畜禽与产品数量有所增加，但马的数量却没有增加，1947年4月至6月，海南养殖马最多的乐东县也不过有马316匹，相比黄牛8235头，水牛12378头，猪10235头，这个数量少得可怜。
　　海南岛解放之后，随着工业化和交通设施的进一步发展，海南小马在社会生产生活已没有太多实际的作用，那“极骏可爱”的身影消失在了人们的视野里，“哒哒”的马蹄声也已远去。

Gilligan holds the monumental honor of being Trebek's last winner on the host's final show before passing away.
Trebek, 80, was the host of "Jeopardy!" for 37 seasons, from the show’s revival in 1984 until his death Nov 8. Trebek had Stage 4 pancreatic cancer, first diagnosed in March of 2019. The show is temporarily being hosted by Ken Jennings, the record holder for the longest winning streak on the show’s history.

One of the contestants who had the honor of appearing in Alex Trebek’s last episode of “Jeopardy!” was Yoshie Hill of Colma, San Mateo County (just south of San Francisco).
The episode, which aired on Jan. 8, was originally scheduled to be aired on Christmas Day. It was taped just days before Trebek’s death on Nov. 8 at the age of 80 due to pancreatic cancer. He had hosted the game show since its revival in 1984 for a total of 37 seasons.
